Year of Establishment: 2004

Sociology is among the subjects that were introduced in first academic session in Degree College Kulgam. Department of sociology started its academic activities by offering undergraduate courses in sociology from 2004. The department offers said courses to undergraduate students.

6.      Indian society structure and change

In 2015 university of Kashmir has introduced Semester system (six semesters) at undergraduate level in 2018 first batch of the students completed Bachelor of Arts with sociology as major subject. With another amendment in 2016 university of Kashmir has introduced CBCS (choice based credit system) at undergraduate level. The department along with core papers is offering various skill enhancement courses.
