Data collection on Eve-teasing by students of BG 4th Semester (Skill Enhancement Course "Gender Sensitisation")
Department of Sociology organized one day field tour for the students of BG 4th semester Skill enhancement course “Gender Sensitization” on 12/07/2019 to habitational areas of Kokernag for enriching the students about application of curriculum for skill enhancement. The objective of the field work was to inculcate the skills of data collection among students.
The touring students (34) were accompanied by the faculty members of the department, students collected empirical data from respondents by administering interview schedule (prepared by the students and finalized by faculty). The students collected data on issues faced by females regarding security and eve-teasing in day today life. While interacting with respondents students spread awareness about various issues pertaining to eve-teasing and female security. For the purpose of data collection a Village namely Hillar Kokernag was randomly selected.
Interview schedule primarily focused on being a victim, frequency of acts, reactions of respondents on being victims and its overall impact on socio-psychological development of respondents. Empirical evidences have highlighted the severity of being victim; almost 90% the respondents have reported that they have been a victim of eve-teasing.
