The Red Ribbon Club and NSS wing of the college in collaboration with J&K AIDS Control Society and District Hospital Kulgam organized one day seminar on AIDS awareness on the theme “Know Your Status” in the Conference Hall of the college on 1st Dec. 2018.  The programme was attended by a large gathering of students, NSS volunteers, faculty and staff of the college and a team of medicos from District Hospital Kulgam under the chairmanship of Principal Prof. A.R.Najar. The guest of honour was Dr, Mohd Yaqoub from District Hospital Kulgam. The programme began with tilawat e Quran by Prof. Safeer Ahmad followed by welcome note by Prof. Sajad Ahmad Shah, NSS Programme officer. The different speakers including NSS volunteers and students of the college spoke on the theme of the day. Prof. Sayar Ahmad Hajam delivered an expert lecture on HIV / AIDS prevention, symptoms, etc. Then Dr. Mohd Yaqoub Mir delivered a comprehensive lecture on the theme and answered different questions raised by the audience. It was an interactive session and almost all the doubts related to the said disease were discussed and cleared. Then principal of the college Prof A R Najar in his speech of conclusion highlighted various issues related to the said disease including the genetic material of HIV, prevention from the said disease and development of moral characters by humans. The event was concluded by vote of thanks by Prof. Manzoor Ahmad Bhat, coordinator Red Ribbon Club.
