Urdu language is considered as the most sweet language of the subcontinent. It has its roots from Indo Aryan and it has the capacity to absorb and adjust the words of almost all the languages of the world that is why it is called Urdu, which means a military or a military station.Urdu language is the third largest language of the world and recently UN has declared Urdu as 10^th Official language of the said organization.Urdu is said to be born in Delhi and its surroundings and developed all over the subcontinent within a short spam of time.Keeping in view the fame and likeness towards this language Mughal Emperors instead of Persian declared Urdu as Official language of India and also people of J and K embarrassed this language so much the Maharaja of J and K Maharaja Pratab Singh declared Urdu as official language of the state in 1889 instead of the local  languages. Every educated and uneducated person prefer to speak and advises their wards to learn and speak the said language.

The department of urdu focusses on the overall development of its students by engaging them in different activities apart from the academics.The main aim of the department is to provide a stimulating and kind environment of for students. Our mission is to prepare the students to be future leaders and to confirm educational and individual success.The department aims to provide poets, Novelists, Fiction Writers, editors, Journalists, Newsreaders and entertainers to the society in general.The Department will keep on providing the best education for Urdu students, advancing the frontiers of literature and language and nurturing the future pillers of our society.

Introduction to Department:

History:

Urdu was introduced as a core subject of this college with the commencement of the academic session of 2004.The subject started with a roll of almost one hundred fifty students. But soon the subject proved to be big attraction for the students of this college probably on account of secondary language of every student.Over these years the department has achieved heights in academic as well as in professional development of its students.Scores of students have been selected in different govt. sectors and a lot of pass out students have achieved higher qualifications like PhD, MPhil, pg., and so many have qualified NET,SET. Till date seventeen bathes of almost fifteen thousand students have completed their graduation as core, skill enhancement and modern Indian language subjects with flying colors.
