Cultural Committee and the Department of Kashmiri GDC Kulgam organised a one-day Intra College Naat Competition.



On April 17, 2023, the Cultural Committee and the Department of Kashmiri at the College collaborated to organize a one-day Intra College Naat Competition. The objective of the event was to provide students with an opportunity to express their love and gratitude for Prophet Muhammad (SAW) during the Holy month of Ramadan. The program commenced with Tilawat-e-Quran by Kuriyat Jan, a second-semester student at GDC Kulgam, followed by a Naat recitation by Prof. Shahzada Ashraf, an Assistant Professor at the College.
A total of 20 students participated in the Naat competition, and their recitations were full of religious fervor, highlighting the deep connection they have with their faith. The competition was judged by a panel of experts, including Prof Shahzada Ashraf , an Assistant Professor of Political Science, Prof. Waseem Ahmad Mantoo, PTI, and Prof. Sajad Ahmad, an Assistant Professor of Computer Science. The judges evaluated the participants on the basis of their content, pronunciation, voice modulation, and presentation. Tanzeel Mohi Ud din from Crescent Public School, Idrees Manzoor, a Trainee at Think and Win, and Kuriyat Jan from GDC Kulgam secured the first, second, and third positions, respectively.
All the participants were felicitated with certificates for their hard work and dedication to the competition. The judges' professional judgmental qualities ensured that the competition was fair and unbiased. Dr. Shabir Ahmad Padder, the Principal of GDC Kulgam, delivered the concluding remarks on the occasion. He accentuated the origin and technicalities of the Naat ceremony and presented poetic praises for Prophet Muhammad (SAW) in Urdu, Kashmiri, Persian, and Arabic languages, showcasing the diverse cultural backgrounds of the participants.
In conclusion, the Intra College Naat Competition was a successful event that provided a platform for students to showcase their love and appreciation for Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and their connection with their faith. The event was a testimony to the College's commitment to cultural diversity and inclusivity.
