About US
Computer Applications is one of the subjects being taught at undergraduate level for students of Science and Arts streams. The college has been established in 2004 and Computer Applications was introduced as a subject in 2005. The department of Computer Applications is housed in Arts Block of the college. During the three year degree programme students are provided with all essential skills as demanded by the global software industry. The structure of the programme has been designed to cater the ever changing demands of the information technology along with necessary inputs from the industry. The main aim of the programme is to develop skilled manpower in the different fields of information technology like software development, software engineering, web designing, database management systems, data communication and computer networks, etc.
The college is affiliated to the University of Kashmir. The University of Kashmir has introduced Choice Based Credit System for all programmes from 2016. All academic activities related to the admission, examination, class work, etc are being conducted by the college as per the guidelines / notifications issued by the University of Kashmir from time to time.
Vision and Mission
The department of computer applications is committed to provide services and learning opportunity to the student in professional and caring manner. We strive to educate students by offering process, programs and activities designed to influence their attitude, change their behaviors and develop strong programming skills and also offer the opportunities to specialize in different area of information technology like software services, outsourcing and other allied sectors. The students can also pursue higher studies in computer application, management and other science subjects after completing their degree.
Course Structure
1. First Semester
Computer Fundamentals
Learning Outcomes: Students learn basics concepts related to computers, Operating System, Internet and Programming in C Language.
2. Second Semester
Microsoft Office
Learning Outcomes : Students learn to operate MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and MS Access
3. Third SemesterProgramming Fundamentals using C / C++
Learning Outcomes: Students learn Basic Programming Skills in C and C++ Languages.
4. Fourth Semester
Data Structures
Learning Outcomes: Students learn Advanced Programming Skills related to organisation of data and its storage in computer memory.
5. Fifth Semester
DBMS
Learning Outcomes: Students Learn Database Management Techniques and Programming in Oracle / SQl
6. Sixth Semester
Computer Networks
Learning Outcomes: Students learn Data Communication and networking techniques
